Oeno

This tiny atoll consists of two islets, the larger Oeno Island and Sandy Island, which is not quite more than a sand bank. Both islets together form a land area of only 650 m
sq.

Despite the small size, there is one endemic plant variety, the Oeno Daisy (Bidens hendersonensis var. oenoensis). This plant must now be regarded as extinct.

Oeno is a breeding area for several seabird species, furthermore it is home for many Coconut Crabs (Birgus latro), giant hermit crabs that are extinct now on many other polynesian islands because of effusive hunting.
