Anaa

This atoll is ca. 30 km long and 6,5 km wide.

The Anaa atoll is currently in the process of becoming a makatea island, that means its lagoon at least partially fills with sediments and starts to fall dry. Beside this the motus in the northwest have risen several metres above the sea level.

The flora of the atoll resembles that of other, more typical atolls, but contains some species which cannot be found on other atolls in the Tuamotu Archipelago.

The atoll has an an endemic subspecies of the Tuamotu Reed-Warbler (Acrocephalus atyphus palmarum).
