Takaroa

The atoll is about 26 km long and 7 km wide, The central lagoon reaches a size of 90 km sq.

The typically atoll vegetation, built by miki-miki (Pemphis acidula) together with 'u'u (Suriana maritima) (in the foreground), kahia (Guettarda speciosa) (behind it) and coconut palms (Cocos nucifera), which were mostly planted by people.
